Tokyo Skytree First Sunrise 2027: Ticket Lottery and Planning Tips

Tokyo Skytree First Sunrise 2027

Tokyo Skytree will hold a special sunrise opening on January 1, 2027. If you want to watch the first sunrise of the year from its observation decks, the direct online ticket allocation will be sold by lottery, replacing the previous first-come, first-served system.

For overseas visitors, one booking detail still needs checking: we have not verified whether the event application accepts overseas phone numbers and foreign-issued cards. The event page is in Japanese. Check these requirements when applications open on November 5 before making non-refundable arrangements specifically for the event.

Information checked October 24, 2026. All times below are Japan Standard Time (JST).

Use the official event page (Japanese) for the application route. Submitting an application is not a confirmed booking. Keep a separate plan for New Year’s morning until you receive the result.

Check Payment and Contact Requirements

The event FAQ says card registration is required and the ticket total is preauthorized when you apply. Unsuccessful applications have the authorization released. Debit or prepaid cards may be charged immediately; refunds after an unsuccessful draw can take up to about two months.

Before submitting, check the form’s accepted phone formats, card requirements, and confirmation email. If your details are not accepted, contact the organizer before proceeding.

Would a Hotel Package Work Better?

Official packages are also announced at Tobu Hotel Levant Tokyo and Asakusa Tobu Hotel, with first-come, first-served sales beginning November 5 at noon. Starting prices are ¥75,000 and ¥80,000 respectively for two people sharing a room, including breakfast and event admission. Only five packages for ten guests are allocated across the two hotels.

Compare the full package with accommodation you already need. An ordinary room reservation does not include this event: confirm the package name, admission inclusion, payment conditions, and cancellation terms before booking. Follow the hotel links on the event page for the specific offer. If you receive an exchange voucher or code, complete the required advance reservation and obtain your admission QR code before arrival.

Plan the Journey Before Applying

The meeting point is Solamachi Square at ground level. Bring your admission QR code and aim for the start of entry; arriving after 6 a.m. may leave too little time before sunrise.

Check the journey from your actual hotel for January 1. Do not assume a normal first train or overnight service will get you there. If rail cannot deliver you in time, assess a walkable hotel or an advance taxi arrangement before paying. A late night on December 31 also makes this an early start worth discussing with everyone in your group.

Decide Whether the Sunrise Premium Is Worth It

Cancellation or refunds for personal reasons are not accepted. Poor visibility also does not qualify for a ticket refund. Choose this event only if the early-morning experience itself appeals to you, even without a clear sunrise. Normal January 1 admission begins at 8 a.m., offering a simpler alternative if the city view matters more than dawn.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I enter the sunrise event with a regular Skytree ticket?

No. This opening requires its own special-event ticket. Do not buy ordinary admission expecting it to cover the sunrise session.

Is there a lower price for children?

The free allowance is limited to two children per group aged five or younger, including six-year-olds who have not started elementary school. Other guests need a paid ticket at the same price. For additional young children, confirm how to include them in your application.
